For You. For the U.P. For Life
Hope Starts Here Cycling Challenge a big success!
Despite frigid temperatures and brisk, north winds, bikers and walkers braved the elements and happily participated in the Fourth Annual Hope Starts Here Cycling Challenge on Saturday, May 9, in Marquette.
Money raised will be used by the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center to advance its mission to empower patients through advocacy, research, education and treatment programs. The Brain Tumor Center provides a multidisciplinary approach, combining the input from Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Neurosurgery, Palliative Care, Nursing and Social Services. It applies diagnostic and treatment methods in the care of patients in collaboration with Northern Michigan University.
The 2009 event proved to be tremendously successful. According to race officials, 286 people registered for the cycling challenge/walk, with net proceeds exceeding $19,450! Thank you to everyone who participated in this annual event and to our terrific sponsors who helped support it! For more information about the UMBTC, visit its website at hopestartshere.org.
