'Icebreaker' to benefit new cancer equipment at MGH
The Bark River Lions Club is holding an “Icebreaker” event, with raffle proceeds going to the Marquette General Cancer Center to help purchase a new linear accelerator and CT simulator to treat cancer patients.
The Lions have parked an Icebreaker race truck on Lake Michigan. Raffle tickets are being sold, with the first- and second-place winners being those who come closest to correctly predicting the time and date when the truck will fall through the ice. Both the first- and second-place winners will receive four weekend passes, plus a campsite at the 2011 August Bark River Off-Road Races.
Tickets are $20 apiece, three for $50 or six for $100. Each ticket is good for four “guesses” in the contest.
The first place winner will receive 35 percent of the total cash purse while second gets 20 percent. The remaining raffle proceeds will be gifted to the Marquette General Foundation (www.mgh.org/foundation) for the cancer project.
The Delta County Search and Rescue Dive Team will retrieve the truck as a training exercise.
