I chose the UP Campus because of the opportunities for hands on 1-1 experience with physicians and the chance to assist directly with procedures and surgeries. I also chose Marquette because it sounded like a great place to live and study!

Why I chose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus? 
The reason I chose to attend MSU College of Human Medicine and specifically the UP Campus boils down to my love for the outdoors. When I was originally researching med schools in undergrad, I discovered the "Compass" program and knew that I wanted to attend MSU College of Human Medicine and apply to the Rural Physician Program. The UP location and the "Compass" program, allow me to satisfy my passion for the outdoors while pursuing my professional goals.

I chose MSU College of Human Medicine UP Campus because of the opportunity to get a lot of hands on experience with patients in surgery and the clinic. In addition, it is y goal to serve a rural population in my practice and the Rural Physician Program at the UP Campus will prepare me well to take care of a rural population. Finally, I was drawn to the outdoor recreation Marquette has to offer and the opportunity to participate in ski patrol at the local mountain.

Growing up in a town without health services, I understand the impact we as medical students can have and how much you can learn about patients/people within a closer-knit community. Also, the Compass Program sounded so cool and I’m excited to start that!

Fixing things around the house/home repairs, working with those who do not have a medical background on health policy and advocacy, hiking, interested in trying out winter sports for the first time!
