Dr. Sonia Geschwindt chose to live in the Upper Peninsula for the great outdoors and the opportunity to raise her family in a great community. She is compelled by her essential role as a doctor, surgeon, and community leader, and serves as the Clinical Director of the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center, a collaborative research effort between UP Health System and Northern Michigan University.
Dr. Geschwindt serves a crucial role as a nuerosurgeon at UP Health System, where she has brought her expertise from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, having held the positions of Skull Base Oncology Fellow and Neurosurgery Resident and was granted awards and honors in a teaching role held during surgical rotation.
Her personal interests include hiking, biking, and spending time with her husband, Major Wayne H. Geschwindt, and twin children, Maximilian and Alexandra. She holds a strong vision to make the Upper Peninsula a healthier place.
