Brain Injury Survivor Support Group

Meeting on the first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL) office. 129 Baraga Street in the nonprofit commons. . The contact person is Jennifer Elsenbroek, (906) 439-5148.

 

Bridges (AIDS) Support Group: You don’t have to do this alone! This support group is for people with HIV/AIDS, partners, families, and friends. Monthly meetings are held in private homes. Members are available for hospital and/ or home visits. For more information Contact Laura Fredrickson at 475-7651 ext. 3.

 

Bariatric Treatment Support Group: This groups meets every third Tuesday of the month from 5:00-6:30 p.m. EST.  Video conferencing is available upon request.

MGHS Surgical Weight Loss Support Groups:


Immediate post surgery support group is open to patients who have had bariatric surgery at MGH within the past three months. Dr. English leads the group in discussions on post surgical issues and concerns. Multidisciplinary team members are present to discuss issues such as nutrition and lifestyle changes.

 

This group meets every third Tuesday of the month from 4:30pm to 5:30pm EST in the Surgical Weight Loss conference room. Video conferencing is available upon request.

 

Ongoing support group is primarily for those who have had bariatric surgery including those who have had surgery at other centers. In addition, those who are considering bariatric surgery are welcome to attend. Dr. English facilitates the group and members of the multidisciplinary team are present to address issues and concerns. Occasionally, a guest speaker will lecture on bariatric-related topics.

 

This group meets every third Tuesday of the month from 5:45pm to 6:45pm EST in the MGH conference center. Video conferencing is available upon request.

 

Cancer Support Groups

Breast Cancer Support Group

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of every month (except in June, July, and August) from 7-8:30 pm. This group meets at the MGH Conference Center in Room 4.

 

Living With Cancer Support Group - Marquette
Meets in Marquette at Marquette General Hospital – Lombardi Room at 4:30 PM.  Remaining 2010 schedule is:  September 16th & 30th, October 14th & 28th, November 4th & 18th and December 2nd.

 

Living With Cancer Support Group - Escanaba
Meets in Escanaba at Bay De Noc College, Joe Heirman Building (Rm. 96).  Remaining 2010 schedule is:  September 22nd, October 20th, November 3rd.

Caregiver Support Groups

Caregivers Support Group: This group meets the first Tuesday of each month at 10am at the Ishpeming Senior Center. Everyone is welcome to attend this group session to discuss anything that Caregivers experience, wonder or worry about. For more information call 485-5527.

 

Adult Caregiver Support Group: This group meets the 1st Wednesday of every month

Grief Support Groups

Grief Support Group: This group meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month at the Lake Superior Hospice Association 148 W. Washington, MQT. For more information please call 225-7760.

 

Bereavement Support Group: This group meets the second Thursday of every month at Wahlstroms Restaurant in Harvey from 12-2pm.

 

Survivors of Suicide:Parents who have lost children: Survivors of Suicide:

N.A.M.I Support Group: This group meets the 2nd Monday of every month for family members, and the last Monday of every month for a business meeting. The meetings start at 7pm. Parkinson’s Support Group: This is a support group for people with Parkinson’s. The group meets the first Wednesday of every month at the Negaunee Senior Center from 2:00- 3:30 pm. Check with Center for special programming.

Domestic Violence/Assault

Recovery/12-step confidential support groups

Alternative Recovery for Women: This support group is for women seeking an alternate path to recovery from chemical dependency. The group meets every Friday from 12-1 pm.
