Dear
Prospective Radiography Student:
This letter
is your career introduction to the Diagnostic Imaging Profession
of Radiography:
Making
your future vocational choice is an explicit statement about
the kind of person you are and hope to be. When considering
healthcare, Radiography is one of the most highly technical,
high-touch professions today. As a medical radiographer you
will be part of a well-educated group of professionals who
work with some of the most advanced imaging equipment available
to diagnose and treat disease and trauma. |

Marquette
General Health System School of Radiography is an educational program
founded in 1979 that encourages talented and dedicated individuals
to pursue careers in radiography and prepare them for the profession
by providing a high-quality curriculum that presents a broad didactic
component, comprehensive clinical practicum, and an environment
that instills professional affective skills.
The
setting for your education is a dynamic 350-bed Level II Trauma
Center located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Students are
given the opportunity to work one-on-one with board certified radiologists
and registered radiologic technologists in addition to the entire
healthcare staff at Marquette General. In conjunction with Diagnostic
Radiography you will be provided an introduction to many of the
different imaging disciplines such as: Computed Tomography (CT),
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Cardiac Imaging, Vascular and
Interventional Imaging, Mammography, Ultrasound, Radiation Therapy,
Nuclear Medicine, and Positron Emission Tomography (PET).
Enrollment is
limited to ten students per year to provide the highest quality
of education.
The
academic year runs from September through August with our students
attending a forty-hour clock week consisting of didactic instruction
integrated with a clinical practicum for twenty-four months (Six
semesters - four traditional and two summer semesters). A student's
clinical practicum occurs at various affiliated sites throughout
the Upper Peninsula encompassing all imaging modalities with the
most current technology available.
Due
to the possible life style changes involved for a radiography student
a student policy manual and campus safety and security are available
for review and discussion upon request by contacting a school official
or reviewing a condensed version on our web site.
If you have
any additional questions after reviewing our catalog please do not
hesitate to contact a program faculty member by telephone, e-mail,
or in person.
