Psychiatry, Addiction

Psychiatry, Addiction - Patients sometimes have a mental illness along with an addiction. Addiction psychiatry treats patients who have mental illnesses such as depression or schizophrenia, combined with dependence on substances such as alcohol, or behaviors such as gambling. In the Upper Peninsula, the most common combination is depression and alcoholism, but many other possiblities exist, and a variety of treatments are available.
