Neurology

A neurologist provides diagnosis and treatment for disorders of the nervous system: the brain, spinal cord and nerves. Conditions treated by a neurologist include muscle disorders, pain (especially headache),epilepsy, neuritis, brain and spinal cord tumors, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke, myasthenia gravis, and muscular dystrophy. Patients may need a neurology consultation if they are experiencing dizziness, seizures, blackouts, numbness, tingling, weakness, paralysis or lack of coordination. Patients with diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, or cancer may also be referred to a neurologist. Neurologists may consult in the treatment of chronic pain.
