Aaron P. Scholnik, MD

I have practiced in Marquette since 1975; moving here after 2 years of active duty in the Air Force. As I was the first Medical Oncologist in the Upper Peninsula, I had the opportunity to found UP Hematology Oncology Associates and to establish the Oncology Unit, Tumor Registry and the Tumor Board.

I spent 1999-2004 in East Lansing as Associate Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine teaching Hematology/Oncology Fellows, doing research as Principle Investigator for the NSABP, and seeing patients at the Breslin Cancer Center. We missed Marquette and moved back here in September 2004.

My wife, Margaret, and I have 3 children. All went to the Marquette Public School System but now are scattered around the country. Our youngest, Emily, teaches second grade in Chicago. Our next oldest, Julie, is a graphic artist in Boulder, CO. Our oldest, Dan, is a research electrical engineer at the Navy Research Labs in Washington, DC. We have one grandchild, Lily, age 4.

My main hobbies are music and singing. I am a member of the Marquette Male Chorus. I also enjoy golf and biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. We have 4 horses on our small farm outside of Marquette and I hope to find time to ride them, occasionally.
