MISSION

The purpose of the Cancer Center services is to provide a coordinated, integrated effort involving the hospital, physicians, support services, patients and their families dealing with the medical, educational, clinical, spiritual, and support needs of the cancer patient.

The center is designed to create a multidisciplinary approach to the management of cancer patients; from prevention through end-stage care. Beyond providing medical care, the center is involved in community education, prevention, screening, and control of cancer; continuing education of medical care providers to bring state-of-the-art medical care to the patients; and evaluation of the effects of this effort.

The Cancer Center includes a coordinated effort including, but not limited to, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Liaison and other specialists active in the care of oncology patients, Oncology Unit, Cancer Home Nursing, Infusion Services and the Research Department. In addition, formal liaison will be maintained with Community Relations, Diagnostic Radiology and Pathology and other integral components of Marquette General Hospital. This is achievable through educational programs, research projects, and multidisciplinary conferences such as Cancer Update, Tumor Board, Cancer Committee and Breast Diagnostic Clinic. The administrative operation of the Cancer Center is also multidisciplinary and interdepartmental to achieve its mission and objectives.
