Bullet The treatment of cancer today requires the use of many modalities. Surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and radiation therapy are well known. Interventional Oncology is a new field for cancer treatment that uses minimally invasive local procedures to target tumors while preserving surrounding tissue and decreasing recovery time for patients.
Bullet The Cancer Center offers all of the currently approved methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, hormone therapy, and clinical research.
Bullet Cancer specialists from Marquette visit eight communities throughout the U.P. to see patients on a regular basis.
Bullet The hospital's Tumor Registry keeps statistics on every cancer patient for comparison with others nationwide. The stats are used to predict success rates and find the best treatment options. Participation in national research enables some patients to receive the newest therapies that are not yet available for general use.
Bullet Because many cancer patients from outside of Marquette County must travel to receive radiation therapy, the hospital Auxiliary offers Beacon House, a home where radiation therapy patients may stay at no charge.
Bullet A variety of support groups are offered by the center. Some are available through community hospitals and Marquette Medical Clinics by long distance video teleconferencing with MGHS.

Special Report

Tree of Life

In remembrance of those who’ve courageously fought the battle
And in honor of those who fight on

Just as the seasons transform the Upper Peninsula, we too experience countless stages throughout our lifetime.

Life’s most challenging times are often those when we need medical assistance. When the diagnosis is cancer, the Marquette General Cancer Center at Marquette General Hospital provides all aspects of cancer care.

The Cancer Center offers many services for which no fees are collected, such as support groups, cancer research, public education, Tumor Registry and Tumor Board.

Tax-deductible gifts to the Marquette General Cancer Center enable these vital activities to continue, helping to ensure the best possible care and outcomes for patients.

Donations of any amount will be of great assistance to the Cancer Center, and gifts of $100 or more are recognized with an engraved leaf on the Tree of Life.

For more information on how you can honor those who battle cancer, please call the Marquette General Cancer Center at 906-225-3500 or
