Marquette General’s Radiation Oncology department provides a teaching environment through an affiliation with Baker College’s School of Radiation Therapy (Jackson, Michigan) and Marquette General School of Radiography.
Radiation Therapy students from Baker College obtain their clinical education by working under the direct supervision of a registered Radiation Therapist.
Students from Marquette General’s School of Radiography include a rotation in our Radiation Oncology Department as part of their clinical experience.
School of Radiography students rotate through the Radiation Oncology department at Marquette General Health System. While in the department, the Radiation Therapists show the students different techniques used on various treatment sites and how to properly treat patients using radiation. Once the students’ graduate from the school, they can elect to pursue a career in the Radiation Therapy field by attending a Radiation Therapy school such as the Baker College of Jackson.
Radiation Therapy students at Baker College may have clinical rotations here at the Radiation Oncology department at Marquette General Health System. These students assist in the planning and treatment processes for patients at this clinical site, and gain hands-on clinical experience.
Radiation Therapy students at Argosy University may have clinical rotations here at the Radiation Oncology department at Marquette General Hospital. Argosy University offers an Associate of Science (AS) in Radiation Therapy program. The mission of the program is to provide the medical community with entry-level radiation therapists by providing them with knowledge and technical skills, a broad-based general education, and an understanding of, and compassion for, cancer patients and their families.
