Calendar of Events - Tumor Board Standard 2.6 of the American College of Surgeons, requires weekly cancer conferences, allowing for review of cancer cases and encouraging multidisciplinary involvement in planning patient care. At MGHS, Tumor Board meets every Tuesday from 7am to 9 am in the Conference Center, fulfilling this requirement. Medical Oncology/Hematology, Radiation Oncology, Interventional Oncology, Pathology, Clinical Imaging, General Surgery, and various other surgeons participate in discussing each case and offering expertise on treatment. Physicians from UP Hematology/Oncology participate via Telehealth from Escanaba, Iron Mountain, Hancock, and Sault St. Marie. Tumor Board
scheduling is coordinated through Martha from Quality Management,
225-3840. The Cancer Research Department supplies pathology information
for case identification. Cancer Research staff attend Tumor Board
to provide information regarding open research protocols and staging.
