-Program Overview- To make your home life at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility even more enjoyable, Brookridge Heights, in cooperation with its community partner, The Upper Michigan Dog Therapy Project, is providing smiles, companionship, and fun to its residents via four feet, a wet nose and a wagging tail. The Upper Michigan
Dog Therapy Project is a non-profit organization based in Marquette.
The Project's mission is to promote and foster the awareness
and utilization of dog therapy, thereby enhancing the well-being
of people, animals, and communities in Upper Michigan.
Are These Dogs Safe to Interact With? Yes! By utilizing the Pet Partners certification process, which is internationally recognized, all participating dogs are required to pass a thorough veterinary evaluation, and comprehensive aptitude and obedience evaluations. Brookridge Heights has taken the steps to ensure each dog entering the facility is in excellent health and that every dog truly enjoys being with people. The dog's owners are not exempt from Pet Partners testing. They must demonstrate an ability to effectively lead their dogs. They must also pass written testing which evaluates their awareness of various medical conditions, dog training techniques, and strategies for successful interactions with patients. Safety has to include the residents! Prior to any interaction with the Pet Partners, residents approvals must be received. Rest assured,

is safe so all that residents need to worry about is having fun!
Canine assisted activity is a term used to describe the interaction of a person and a dog purely for fun and enjoyment. Receiving unconditional love and acceptance during a visit from a friendly certified Pet Partners dog can turn a bad day into a good day and make good days even better!
